Notes:

This was probably a species of Capuchin monkey in one of two genera, which have prehesile tails.The Panamanian white-headed capuchin (Cebus imitator) is pictured here.

The Museum received other living ring-tail monkeys on 8 Dec 1810 from John Dayton, probably the Philadelphia merchant of that name, and on 13 Nov 1820 from James Smith (which died and was dissected by Dr. Richard Harlan). Peale Museum Accessions Book, Historical Society of Pennsylvania, pp. 52,103.
