On 26 May 1806, a "Pinguin from Cape of Good Hope" donated by Dr. Benjamin Archer was entered in the Peale Museum Accessions Ledger, p. 16 (Historical Society of Pennsylvania, coll. 0481).

A mounted specimen of "Aptenodytes demersa (Cape Penguin)" was listed in "A Catalogue of Duplicate Specimens...", May 1822. [unpublished] American Philosophical Society Library (Mss.B.P31).
