Charles Willson Peale (1741-1827) wrote, in his 16th Lecture (ca. 1799): "147. White front headed Parrot of Martinique. the front of the head encircling the Eyes are white; throat red; Body green; a dull crimson on the under part of the body; wing quills blue; red on the under part of the tail. Psittacus leucocephalus Linn. Parroquet de la Martinique Buff. pl. enl. 549. White fronted parrot Latham No. 88A. It considerably resembles a parrot of Senegal (Buff. pl. enl. 335) but is [of not] so bright a red on the under part of the body." Notes:

Despite the English name he gave to the species, Peale’s description (and Martinet’s plate) match the Cuban Amazon, which is not found on Martinique.
