Amphibolaid is probably an archaic term for amphibolite (a rock composed mainly of hornblende and plagioclase feldspar). Epidote is an accessory mineral in that rock.

Silvain Godon (ca. 1774-1840) was a French mineralogist who settled in Philadelphia in 1809 and gave lectures at Peale's Museum until he had a mental breakdown in 1810.
