In Council of Safety, December 3, 1776: Resolved, that Messieurs Christopher Marshall, Thomas Cuthbett, John Mifflin, Paul Fooks, John Lownes, Benjamin Pascall, Thomas Smith, Samuel Simpson, Daniel Wister, Benjamin Marshall, Isaac Howell, Richard Humphreys, James Cresson, Thomas Tilbury, Casper Guyer, Joseph Pfeiffer, Cadwallader Dickinson, Leonard Kesseller, Richard Dennis, Nicholas Hicks and James Huston, be appointed to go round the several wards of this city, and the Southern and Northern Liberties to collect all the old great coats, coats, surtouts, jackets and breeches from the inhabitants which they can spare. ..
