"This fish measures from point of the beak to the end of its tail, 12 feet 3 inches, the sword 3 feet 9 inches long, and girt of the largest part of the body 4 feet 6 inches. It weighed independant of the bowels 198 pounds, was caught near the island of Nantucket, and is not, perhaps, inferior in taste to any fished used at our tables."
