The donor may have been the Rev. John Anderson (1748-1830), who came to the United States in 1783, was ordained in Philadelphia in 1788, and became the founding professor of one of the first Presbyterian seminaries in the U.S., which later became Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, founded in 1794.
