Notes:

About twenty mastodon bones and teeth were excavated in 1780 from a swamp on the farm of the Rev. Robert Annan (1742-1819) near Walkill in Orange County, N.Y. Annan's published account stated that some of the bones had been sent to the Philadelphia museum of Du Simitière (p. 163).
