An example of a groat (fourpence coin) of 1660-1669 from the reign of Charles II (1660-1685) is pictured here.

The donor, Thomas Mifflin (1744-1800), was an American merchant, soldier, and politician from Philadelphia. He was the first Governor of Pennsylvania (1790 to 1799).

Du Simitière also received a Charles II groat in Sep 1778 from Isaac Zane, Jr. (1743-1795). Memorandum Books, fol. 33v
