"This white Hare . . . belongs to America, but has not been long noticed. They are found in the State of Connecticut; in Northhampton County Pennsylvania, and also in Louisana. They are said to be of a brown colour in the summer season. Our Rabits are of the uniform colour of this before us, & differ essentially from that European Rabit; having 4 toes on each foot the other has 5 toes on each forefoot, besides its varigated Colours of white & black &c."
