A proclamation: Whereas it hath been represented to me ... that intimations were given to the mayor ... of a design to perpetrate a riot ... Monday the 14th instant, suddenly began a riot ... there burnt certain figures or effigies, in the presence of a rabble of Negroes and children ... I ... hereby ... requiring the magistrates ... to discover and bring the said offenders to justice ... Given under my hand and seal at arms, at Fort-George, in the city of New-York, the 19th day of November, one thousand seven hundred and sixty-eight ... H. Moore. God save the King
