Notes:

The donor Silvain Godon (ca. 1774-1840) was a French mineralogist who settled in Philadelphia in 1809 and gave lectures at Peale's Museum until he had a mental breakdown in 1810, perhaps brought on by the failure of his an Rubens Peale's business venture in the mining and manufacturing of chrome yellow paint.
