Delaplaine's Repository of the Lives and Portraits of Distinguished American Characters, 2 vols. (Philadelphia, 1816-1818); see also seven individual plates donated by Delaplaine under date 6 July 1815.

Joseph Delaplaine (1777-1824) was born in Philadelphia and moved to Cincinnati in 1805. He returned to Philadelphia in 1809 and pursued a variety of publication endeavors, including The American Edition of the New Edinburgh Encyclopedia, 18 vols. (1812-1832), the monthly Emporium of Arts and Sciences (1812-1813), and the Repository of the Lives and Portraits of Distinguished Americans.
