Reuben Haines (1786-1831) was a Quaker farmer, brewer, abolitionist, scientist, ornithologist, meteorologist, firefighter, philanthropist, and educational reformer. An active member of the American Philosophical Society and the Academy of Natural Sciences, he kept a scientific cabinet at his home at Wyck House in Germantown, Pa.
