Notes:

John Redman Coxe (1773-1864) was a physician and professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is associated with two kinds of telegraphs: "revolving" and galvanic. The date of this entry suggests it probably refers to a model of the revolving telegraph that he wrote about in an article in his periodical The Emporium of Arts & Sciences, "Description of a Revolving Telegraph, for Conveying Intelligence by Figures, Letters, Words, or Sentences," 2, no. 8 (December 1812): 99-109 / https://archive.org/details/emporiumofartssc02coxe/page/98/mode/2up . The plate accompanying the article is pictured here.

In 1816 he described his idea for a galvanic telegraph, also pictured here.
