" About halfway between Zelienople and the mouth of the Slippery rock creek [Butler County, Pa.]. There is a stratum of the same Substance, about 4 or 5 feet above the level of the bottom of the creek on both sides, which breaks in pieces of various dimensions, some many feet in diameter and are carried down by the Water. In the bed of the creek there is a beautiful Strata of very fine Slate which splits very thin."

The donor was "of Wilmington."

The question mark is in the ms. Connoquenessing Creek is a tributary of the Beaver River, approximately 50 miles long, in western Pennsylvania.
