By albacora Peale probably refers to the yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), a species of tuna found in pelagic waters of tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide, although he could have been referring to the albacore tuna (Thunnus alalunga), a different species. The former is pictured here.
