Notes:

There are five species of Procellaria, a genus of Southern Ocean long-winged seabirds, and all are named petrel. An image of the skeleton of Procellaria giganta is pictured here.

Samuel Coates (1748-1830) was a prominent Quaker merchant who was Treasurer of the Library Company of Philadelphia (1784-1793), Secretary and later President of the Board of Managers of the Pennsylvania Hospital (1786-1825), a member of the Overseers of the Public Schools of Philadelphia. (1812-1823), and a director of the original Bank of the United States (1800-1812).
