The U.S. brig Boxer was constructed in 1815, Lieut. John Porter in command. After brief service in the Mediterranean, she spent the remainder of her career cruising the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the West Indies protecting American trade in the area from West Indian pirates. She was lost at sea off Belize, British Honduras, on 25 Oct 1817, but her crew was saved.
