Trans.: Thirty-eight large prints of religious ceremonies of all the people of the world

Object Status:

Unlocated

Accession Date:

N.d.

Primary Source Reference:

Du Simitière Scraps, Library Company of Philadelphia, no. 38, 3

Notes:

These prints were likely from the work of Bernard Picart (1673-1733), a French engraver who created Cérémonies et coutumes religieuses de tous les peuples du monde, which comprised ten volumes of text and engravings published from 1723 to 1743. A representative print, the Consecration of the synagogue of the Portuguese Jews in Amsterdam, is pictured here.
