Jacques Callot (ca. 1592-1635) executed a series of eighteen etchings as Les Misères et les Malheurs de la Guerre (The Miseries and Misfortunes of War) (1633); all can be viewed at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Grandes_Mis%C3%A8res_de_la_guerre; the most famous of the suite is La Pendaison (The Hanging), pictured here. The etchings are indeed "petite," measuring only 8.3 cm × 18 cm (3.3 in × 7.1 in).
