Notes:

In the fall of 1790 Gen. Josiah Harmar (1753-1813) led a punitive expedition against the Shawnee and Miami Indians in the Northwest Territory. In a series of disastrous battles, the Americans suffered the worst defeat of U.S. forces by Indians up to that time. Harmar was court-martialed in 1791 but cleared of wrong-doing.

The donor's name is as given in Independent Gazetteer; Dunlap's American Daily Advertiser (Philadelphia), 26 May 1791 has Lieut. Belli.
