René Just Haüy (1743-1822) published what might be termed a treatise on amphibole in 1815: Description d'une nouvelle variété d'amphibole, which appeared in the Mémoires du Muséum d'histoire naturelle, 1 (1815): 393-400 (pictured here), and in the Journal des Mines, 37 (1815): 409-416; no earlier editions are known.
Haüy was a French priest and mineralogist, commonly styled the Abbé Haüy after he was made an honorary canon of Notre Dame. (Wikipedia)
