Probably written by Esther Reed, who assumed leadership of the women’s relief effort in Philadelphia. See William B. Reed, The life of Esther De Berdt, afterwards Esther Reed, of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, 1853), pp. 313-324. Followed by, on p. [2]: Ideas, relative to the manner of forwarding to the American soldiers, the presents of the American women. Imprint from colophon. The American Antiquarian Society copy was found bound after the June 10, 1780 issue of the Pennsylvania Packet, printed at Philadelphia by John Dunlap. Articles related to the women’s efforts were printed in the Pennsylvania Packet on June 13, 17, 27, July 8, and Nov. 4, 1780.
