Additional Source Text:

"This is the horn of the Leucoryx. . . . Hence it appears that I have by mere chance got in my Museum, a rare relick, in this simple horn. This may serve to remind us that we ought not to suffer any thing to be lost, however trifling it may appear at the moment; for, yet when it makes an addision to some repository of Natural history, its value may be known by filling up some Chasm to render the whole line compleat. I often hear people say I thought it too trifling or I should have saved it, supposing it common, or that you had it, I am very sorry I did not send it to you"
