"On board the Ship Columbia and was not discovered to be on board untill 6 weeks after and not taken till her discharge at Philadelphia."

Poulson's American Daily Advertiser (Philadelphia), 5 Feb 1808 adds: "A Snake, 10 feet 2 inches long, from the East Indies, which got unperceived on board a ship, and was not discovered till six weeks after, when it crept into one of the sailors births, who, alarmed at his cold insinuating visitant, sprang out and could not be prevailed to go back. It was seen several times after this, but was not taken until her arrival at this port."
