Linnaeus refers to Calcareo-siliceous titanic ore in his General System of the Mineral Kingdom (London, 1806), p. 312 (citing "Kirwan miner[alogy] 2. p. 331")

The donor may have been a relation of Andrei Yakovlevich Dashkov (1777-1830), who was the first Russian diplomat in the United States (1809-1817).
