Edward III (1312-1377) was King of England and Lord of Ireland from 1327 until his death.

His sword and shield in Westminster Abbey are depicted in this 1842 watercolor by John Wykeham Archer.

The donor of the fragment was probably Bucks County attorney Jonathan Williams Condy.
