Moritz Fürst (1782-1841) was an American artist of Jewish-Slovak origin. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1807 and in 1808 settled in Philadelphia, where he set up business as a seal and steel engraver and die-sinker. He was subsequently employed by the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia and soon received recognition as an early American medalist. http://numismatics.org/digitallibrary/ark:/53695/nnan167271 ; Neil Musante, Medallic Washington (London, 2016), 1: 162.
