Quam is a colloquial term that can be applied to any guan, a number of bird genera that make up the largest group in the family Cracidae. The crested guan is pictured here. They are found mainly in northern South America, southern Central America, and a few adjacent Caribbean islands.
The donor was probably Philadelphia merchant George Harrison (1762–1845), later U.S. Navy agent in Philadelphia..
