John Binns (1772-1860) was a Dublin-born American journalist who published the Democratic Press (Philadelphia) from 1807 to 1829.
Christian Jacob Burckle was a New York merchant and an agent of Philadelphia merchant Stephen Girard. In Oct 1822 he arrived in the U.S. from Bogota having been authorized to negotiate a $3 million loan for the government of Colombia. He was "by birth a German, naturalized citizen of the United States, but the last two years in Colombia. . . . He is well known in Philadelphia and appears to be an intelligent man."
