The battle was St. Clair's defeat, fought in the Northwest Territory, which was the worst defeat of the American military by Native Americans.

Dr. Samuel Brown (1769–1830), Dickinson College 1789, received his medical degree from Marischal College of the University of Aberdeen in 1794 and was a professor of chemistry, anatomy, and surgery at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky., from 1799 to 1806.
