These artifacts may be the same as Lot 42 and 43 in the 1 Dec 1869 sale of the collection of Montroville Dickeson (1810-1882), described as "Pair of East India Shoes (hemp soles)" and "Pair of East india Child's Shoes (embroidered)," both "Presented by Myers Fisher, Jr." (presumably the wording on the Peale Museum label accompanying the artifacts). Miers Fisher, Jr. (1786-1813), a Visitor of the Peale Museum, was a Philadelphia merchant who was in business in Russia 1809-1813. He married a Russian woman, Helen Grigorofsky, and died within days of the wedding. Nina N. Bashkina, David F.
