Samuel Latham Mitchill (1764-1831) was an American physician, naturalist, and politician. He represented New York in Congress (both House and Senate) 1801-1813.
Charles Stewart (1778-1869) was an officer in the U.S. Navy who commanded a number of US Navy ships, including USS Constitution. At the time of this deposit he was commanding the American Pacific squadron.
