These fragments were first "Collected and presented by" James Schee (1764-1824), who was postmaster of Dover, Del., in 1810. Poulson's American Daily Advertiser (Philadelphia), 1 Mar 1810. An Accessions Book entry dated 3 Jan 1818 (p. 91) reads: "A valuable and interesting collection of the fragments of some of the principal Roman Temples & public edifices to the number of 44 with a short history of each." The collection was returned to Schee on 19 Jan 1821 (p.103).
