In 1733 coins of the Isle of Man were issued by the King of Man (or Mann). The penny example of 1733 pictured here was minted to recognize James Stanley, 10th Earl of Derby, then the King of Man.
The donor, Thomas Mifflin (1744-1800), was an American merchant, soldier, and politician from Philadelphia. He was the first Governor of Pennsylvania (1790 to 1799).
