Notes:
Jusepe de Ribera (1591-1652), also known as José de Ribera, Josep de Ribera, and L'Espagnolet, was a Spanish painter and printmaker. Several folios of engravings reproduced Ribera's prints. The first folio of such copies was engraved by Louis Ferdinand Elle (1612-1689), a French painter and engraver, and published as Livre de Portraiture Recueilly des Oeuvres de Ioseph de Riuera dit l’Espagnolet et Gravé al’eau forte par Louis Ferdinand (Paris, N.d., 2d ed. 1650). The title page and a representative plate are pictured here.
