"The whole thrown confusedly together in the different Strata it was found on the allegany mountain near French Catherine Town and given me by the same gentleman with above Indian curiousities."

Notes:

French Catherine's Town was a Seneca village near present-day Watkins Glen and Catherine, N.Y.

The donor was Jonathan Potts (1745-1781), who graduated from the College of Philadelphia as bachelor of medicine, 1768, and M.D., 1771. During the Revolution he was director general of hospitals in the northern department, 1777-1778, and of the middle department, 1778-1780.
