Notes:

The donor was Frederick Phile (d. 1793), a Philadelphia physician and Westmoreland County, Pa., landowner, served as surgeon of the 5th Pennsylvania Regiment, 1776 to 1777, and as naval officer for the port of Philadelphia under the state and federal governments from 1777. He died in the Yellow Fever epidemic.
